Christmas is a special time of year, the season of good will, when we like to show our loved ones how much we care. What about that special someone in your life? Have you thought what you may arrange in terms of a gift or where you could take them to celebrate Christmas. Receiving a special surprise at Christmas from someone you love results in memories that will last forever. Let's take a look at some of the activities or dates that will make your partner feel special.
A Day Ice Skating
Ice skating may not be the first activity that comes to mind when you think of surprising your date at Christmas but we think its a great idea! Skating around an outdoor ice rink that is bedecked with festive decorations while holding the hand of your date is a very romantic experience. Think of any romantic scene from a Christmas movie such as White Christmas where the lovers skate together with the snow flakes falling and the fairy lights twinkling in the background. You get the picture?
Many ice rinks play festive music to get skaters in the mood, while even if you are beginners a lot of fun can be had trying to get off the spot. Skates are available for hire at most ice rinks while specially erected outdoor rinks can be found in many towns and cities over the festive season. Why not try something different by taking your date ice skating, its a great way to spend a few hours on the run up to Christmas.
Santacon is a Christmas parade that takes place in London every December. Participants dress up in Santa costumes and generally celebrate the season by being friendly to one and all. Sounds fun? Well it really is. In order to join in the fun you will need to check out the Santacon website to see details of when the event begins and where. This year Santacon London takes place on December 14th.
The parade passes most of London's famous landmark places, while at points Santas may call in at the pub for a drink to keep them going. Once the days parade and activities are complete there is a late night party for the night owls among us. All participants must wear a Santa suit, indeed you will feel the odd one out if you dont. Being jolly, upbeat, happy and cheerful is mandatory, while singing the unique Santa Carols is a must. Joining the Santacon for a fabulous day of activities is a great way to have fun with your date at Christmas.
Christmas Carol Concert
Christmas Carol Concerts certainly get us in the mood for the festive season, while there are hundreds taking place throughout the UK during the month of December. Couples will have a wonderful time joining in the singing that brings out nostalgia and hope in us all. Many choirs sing outdoors in market squares or at Christmas Markets adding to the atmosphere. What could be more romantic than listening to carols, surrounded by lanterns while you drink a warming cup of festive cheer?
Many venues incorporate Carol Concerts with follow up romantic meals for two. A fine example of this isChatsworth House Christmas Twilight Evening, where guests listen to Carols, tour the festively decorated building and finish with a beautiful dinner. It really is a romantic evening out with a Christmas theme that any date will appreciate.
Romantic Weekend Away
What better way to show your appreciation for the love that your partner gives throughout the year than to book a surprise Festive weekend away. Why not book a spa break, or a wine tasting weekend in a luxury hotel, while a city break in Europe during December would be a superb romantic gesture. Paris is a great destination in December as is Brussels, Amsterdam or maybe take your partner to one of the many European Christmas Markets in Prague or Budapest.
A weekend away somewhere snowy will really get you in the festive mood. Trips to Lapland in December with Nordic Visitor are especially charming. The home of Santa is not simply for children there are many adult activities including dog sledding or taking a romantic ride on a sleigh pulled by huskies. The Northern lights is another beautiful experience your partner will never forget too.
Romantic Christmas Movie Night
We all have a favourite Christmas movie, ours is White Christmas with the legendary Bing Crosby. Why not find out which Christmas film is the favourite of your partner and arrange a romantic night in with drinks and nibbles to watch the movie. Watching Christmas movies certainly gets us in the festive mood and is a great way to get the Christmas season started.
Buy popcorn or pop your own in the microwave. Decorate the room with festive cheer or why not make your own Christmas punch or mulled wine to sip while you curl up on the sofa together. Christmas movies never lose their popularity no matter how many times you have watched them, while films filled with sentimentality and romance give us that warm Christmassy feeling inside. In our experience this is not an expensive way to spend a romantic evening but it is sure is one of the most successful.
